The gadgeteers at Shanzai have gotten their hands on the novel contender for world's cheapest netbook, and it looks like you won't be needing to convert dollars to yuan in a desperate thunder to snag one.
The Lanyu eBook recently went on sale in the People's Republic for the equivalent of $98.
What do you rep for less than the stamp of a first-gen Zune?  The usual 7-inch veil, WiFi and USB ports, plus a processor that will beget your cell phone snicker and an antique version of Windows described as "gain 98 with a hangover."
The former operating system turns out to be the sticking point, limiting access to most Web apps and services. Of course, you could always replace it with a respectable OS...
